The 2013 field season of the Nakum Archaeological Project has been just finished. This year Polish-Guatemalan team of archaeologists made several important discoveries at Nakum. They also consolidated and restored important monuments (carved stela and stucco frieze). Investigations were especially focused on the Middle Preclassic period occupation (1000-300 B.C.) and the problem of the first settlement of Nakum and other neighbouring sites. A brief report concerning results of this year season will be posted soon in the Discoveries section. Currently we are studying all artefacts found this year in our project lab located in Santa Elena (northern Guatemala).
